About The Position

The Laundry Technician is responsible for washing, drying, ironing, and folding laundry, including resident garments and community linens, while adhering to high-quality standards that prevent damage to items or equipment. This role involves maintaining equipment and supplies, handling laundry delivery and collection, and providing courteous customer service.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment and the safe operation of washers, dryers, and irons.
  • General knowledge of infection control, universal precautions, and safe practices for chemical handling.
  • Ability to read and understand MSDS for cleaning chemicals and adhere to all safety protocols.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with residents and team members.
  • Ability to read names and numbers for sorting and organization purposes.
  • Extensive standing and moderate walking, twisting, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push laundry carts with loads up to 200 pounds.
  • Frequent use of communication, hearing, and vision abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  • 1 year of commercial laundry experience in healthcare or hospitality is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, dry, iron, and fold assigned laundry according to departmental procedures.
  • Sort garments and contaminated linens; perform pre-rinsing, spot treatments, or bleaching as needed to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Ensure proper care and maintenance of laundry equipment, reporting malfunctions or damaged items to the Lead Housekeeper or Director of Plant Operations.
  • Organize laundry supplies and equipment following safety guidelines for proper storage and usage.
  • Conduct routine checks on laundry chemicals and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and safe handling of all products per MSDS guidelines.
  • Collect soiled laundry from designated areas and deliver clean laundry to residents or other community areas.
  • Provide friendly, courteous responses to residents or guests encountered during collection or delivery and report any unresolved resident concerns to the appropriate manager.
  • Interact with residents, family members, and guests courteously during laundry collection or delivery.
  • Report any concerns or complaints to the Lead Housekeeper or Director of Plant Operations for follow-up.
  • Provide "fill-in" housekeeping assistance in other Montereau areas as needed, including cross-training on cleaning and floor care tasks to ensure team coverage.
  • Assist with general housekeeping functions as required to support team coverage and resident satisfaction.
  • Participate in training sessions to ensure continuous improvement in cleaning and laundry care techniques.
