About The Position

Responsible for transporting linen carts to and from Affiliates, weighing, sorting and counting soiled linens, operates washers, dryers. Flatwork ironers and small piece folders under specific guideline and other miscellaneous duties on an assigned shift, five (5) days a week. Under the direct supervision of the Floor Leaders. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Weighs, sorts, and counts bio-hazard soiled linens from Affiliates and records on proper report. Weighs and loads bio-hazard soiled linens into chute for washers. Wrap linen and load carts according to pick ticket ironer and in dry fold area. Folds linens that are processed through the flatwork ironer and in dry fold area. Assist washroom personnel as needed or required lifting up to 50 lbs. Sends linen through flatwork ironers and small piece folders. Loads and unloads linens from tumblers. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and work area. Must have computer skills to operate PLC ran equipment in the department. Contributes to a positive work environment and the overall team effort of the department. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements

Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculation, complete department logs and reports as normally acquired through on the job training.
High school diploma, GED, or 2-5 years hospital related experience required.
General knowledge of commercial laundry equipment, as normally acquired through four weeks of on the job training.
Ability to operate commercial laundry equipment as acquired through four weeks of on the job training.
Comprehension of using specific software to stage carts correctly for each area of the hospital.
Must have good coordination skills.
Critical Thinking skills--Ability to determine if linen needs to be rewashed, stain treated or discarded.
