About The Position

The Laundry Manager is responsible for supervising the daily operations of the laundry facility on board a cruise ship. This role involves ensuring the efficient operation of laundry services, maintaining equipment, and overseeing the quality control of laundered items. The Laundry Manager works closely with the Executive Housekeeper and other departments to ensure that all laundry needs are met in a timely and efficient manner, while also adhering to safety and environmental policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in the laundry field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Physical ability to perform essential functions, including lifting up to 50 pounds and participating in emergency procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the laundry facility.
  • Ensure all equipment is fully operational and coordinate repairs with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Oversee sorting and washing procedures for laundry items.
  • Check finished products for quality control at the end of each cycle.
  • Inspect dryers daily to ensure they are free of lint and operating correctly.
  • Coordinate daily inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Submit daily inspection reports to the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
  • Manage the cleaning of non-logo uniforms for crew members without charge if verified as bona fide uniform items.
  • Direct all problem resolutions in the laundry to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Ensure timely distribution of laundered items to various areas including staterooms and crew cabins.
  • Coordinate washing schedules with the Cruise Division for timely laundering of costumes.
  • Set formulas and cycles for different types of linen and soil, partnering with Ecolab for machine calibration.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs of laundry machinery, reporting malfunctions to the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Complete requisitions for chemical supplies and manage the laundry budget.
  • Review sales and revenue generated in the laundry with the Executive Housekeeper weekly.
  • Monitor and seek opportunities to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Address guest concerns in line with onboard problem resolution guidelines.
  • Understand and apply environmental policies related to laundry operations.
