The position involves essential duties and responsibilities primarily focused on maintenance and repair within a hotel environment. The role requires listening and responding to guest inquiries, maintaining and repairing laundry systems and equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. The employee will also be responsible for maintaining daily records of work requests and assisting in other job duties as needed. Physical demands include lifting and carrying items of varying weights and performing various physical activities throughout the shift. The position may require working varying schedules based on the hotel's business needs.

  • Listen and respond to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Inform management staff of problems requiring maintenance and report any equipment deficiencies.
  • Receive keys, radio and job assignments daily, coordinate work plan and apply standard maintenance practices.
  • Maintain and repair all laundry systems and equipment.
  • Communicate with other shifts to ensure any follow-up on ongoing projects to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that all safety procedures are followed, including lock-out-tag-out procedures, hot work permits, and fire watch.
  • Respond to accident scenes and emergency calls, and assist Journeyman.
  • Inspect projects to ascertain quality of maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain daily record of work requests, preventative maintenance work requests, craft cards, and related paperwork.
  • Lift/carry items weighing up to 20 lbs. constantly, up to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
  • Sit, walk/stand, bend, squat, twist, kneel, climb, crawl, and/or reach as needed.
  • Comply with hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities.
  • Ability to operate photocopier, two-way radios, fax machine, etc.
  • Engage in considerable physical activity on a continuous basis.
  • Operate hand tools and power tools of trade.
  • Read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Analyze situations to decide whether to repair or replace equipment.
  • Remain alert throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Resolve issues using sound judgment and initiative.
  • Organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns.
  • Maintain attendance in conformance with hotel standards.
  • Must be neat, clean and well-groomed.
