About The Position

The Laundry Attendant at Springhill Suites by Marriott Boston Peabody is responsible for upholding MCR's universal standards of cleanliness and friendliness. This role involves ensuring guest satisfaction through positive interactions, maintaining spotless cleanliness throughout the hotel, and ensuring product consistency and quality. Key duties include performing all stages of linen processing, such as collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, storing, and delivering linens. The attendant will operate and maintain laundry equipment, ensure the cleanliness and organization of the laundry facility, and manage cleaning chemicals. The position emphasizes teamwork, clear communication, and a proactive attitude to meet business needs and guest expectations. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess a positive attitude, be able to follow established guidelines, handle high-pressure situations, resolve conflicts, and demonstrate a strong desire to serve guests. The role requires working a varied schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and involves physical demands such as standing, walking, repetitive motions, and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests happily upon arrival and throughout their stay with a smile.
  • Use the guests’ names whenever possible, ensuring they feel properly welcomed.
  • Contribute to great guest satisfaction scores.
  • Handle challenging guest situations with hospitality and a sense of urgency.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of all features of the hotel facility and amenities.
  • Be aware of and support all groups and events at the hotel.
  • Understand relevant technology for each role.
  • Answer all incoming calls with friendly service using the approved greeting.
  • Keep all areas, both front and back of the house, clean and well-organized.
  • Pitch in to clean guest rooms and public spaces as needed, to ensure the hotel is well-organized and safe.
  • Greet every guest happily with a smile, by name if possible, while cleaning.
  • Complete all operational checklists accurately and at the designated times, every shift.
  • Ensure handover reports are accurate and on time, for effective shift-to-shift communication.
  • Wear a clean, approved uniform and be well-groomed per the Team Member Handbook, while wearing a nametag and smiling at all times.
  • Communicate clearly, honestly, and professionally with Team Members.
  • Be willing to stretch beyond traditional role to meet the needs of the business and MCR’s guests.
  • Work together with all Team Members at all levels to create a welcoming environment for guests and an effective, positive workplace.
  • Perform all stages of linen processing, including collecting, transporting, sorting, weighing, loading, and unloading of washers, dryers, and laundry chutes, folding, storing and delivering.
  • Wash and dry all dirty linens, towels, rags, etc., as directed by management.
  • Remove and sort dirty linens and towels from laundry carts.
  • Fold linens/towels and stock linen carts, as required.
  • Understand operation of washing machines and dryers.
  • Clean dryer filter as directed and noted on checklist and maintain all equipment as trained.
  • Sweep and mop laundry floors storing all linens off the floor.
  • Keep laundry carts clean and free of debris.
  • Stock all linen closets throughout the hotel, as applicable.
  • Keep all back of house areas well-organized and clean.
  • Replace and replenish cleaning chemicals.
  • Arrive and clock in on time for every shift worked and clock out at the scheduled shift ending time, unless otherwise directed by your immediate supervisor.
  • Never work while off the clock.
  • Clock in/out for breaks at the designated time on your schedule.
  • Provide sufficient notice as directed by your supervisor when calling out for a scheduled shift.
