Basic Function: Responsible for collecting, washing, drying, sorting and delivering laundry to control the spread of infections. Position Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and follow basic written and oral step-by-step instructions. Ability to move laundry into loading and unloading machines, using up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects. Work deals mostly with objects, equipment and/or machines where the seeing job is at within arm’s reach. Depth perception and field of vision (peripheral) are of some importance. Color discrimination necessary in identifying strains and estimating degree of soil. Turns, stoops, kneels, crouches, reaches, pushes, pulls, handles, stands, walks over 75% of shift. Ability to recognize differences in sound, such as voices/noises that are loud and playful instead of angry and combative. Ability to recognize differences in sound generated by equipment or machinery which may indicate operating problems or safety concerns. Ability to perform tasks with due consideration for residents in vicinity and ability to cooperate and work with other employees. Ability to work under close supervision performing routine, standardized tasks; and ability to meet time contraints. Ability to cooperate and work with other employees. Ability to operate or learn to operate laundry cleaning, and related, machines and equipment. Ability to change temperature and water levels as necessary; determine the load of a machine can carry efficiently and estimate amount of washing required for variety of items. Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis. Commitment to Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. Sufficient good health to properly discharge duties. Related experience is preferred, but not necessary. Ability to comply with Resident/Patient rights, all state/federal regulatory requirements, and all company policies and procedures. Ability to attend general orientation session and attend department orientation. Submit to TB Tine Test and return as instructed to read results or provide results of current TB Tine Test in the last 12 months. Must be able to work any day of the week, including weekends.
