Requirements

• No formal education necessary.
• Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, the use of cleaning products and the operation of cleaning equipment.
• Must be able to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Excellent vision required; emphasis on cleaning standards and quality control.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. of linen; pushing up to 75 lbs. of linen; pulling up to 75 lbs. of linen; carrying up to 50 lbs. of linen.
• Must be able to bend frequently while loading / unloading washing machines / dryers, sorting clothes and folding.
• Must be able to work with arms raised above the head during the course of the work shift.
• Must be able to move continuously throughout the department.
• Standing permanently -100% of the shift.
• Excessive heat and humidity.95% of the shift.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in the laundry area desirable

Responsibilities

• Receive and sort dirty clothes into appropriate containers following all safety practices.
• Process the sorted clothes using washing machines, dryers and ironers ensuring that the finished product is inspected and meets quality standards.
• Regularly inspect clothing for tears, holes or substandard conditions and remove it from inventory.
• Maintain the assigned work area in clean and safe conditions.
• Empty the lint traps after each load to ensure the safety of the equipment and the building.
• Notify the supervisor of equipment malfunctions, supplies needed, damaged bedding, to ensure that the laundry operation is run at the highest level of efficiency.
• Ensure that linen carts are stored and prepared to be delivered to the room floors.
