About The Position

The Laundry Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality laundry services while ensuring the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents. The role includes sorting, washing, drying, and folding clothing and linens, following infection control guidelines, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in laundry services or environmental services is a plus, especially in a healthcare setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to operate laundry equipment such as washers and dryers.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure laundry items are sorted and stored properly.
  • Attention to detail in adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring clean, sanitary laundry for residents.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling to operate equipment and handle laundry.

Responsibilities

  • Sort soiled clothing and linens, preparing them for washing.
  • Operate laundry machines to wash and dry clothing and linens efficiently.
  • Fold and sort clean items, placing them into the appropriate storage areas.
  • Ensure the laundry area remains organized and clean.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while respecting the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents during the delivery of laundry services.
  • Interact with residents courteously and professionally, addressing any requests related to laundry services.
  • Report any environmental deficiencies such as broken lighting, malfunctioning equipment, or other repair needs to the appropriate department.
  • Monitor for safety and fire hazards and report potential issues immediately to ensure a safe environment.
  • Follow all infection control protocols to ensure the health and safety of residents.
  • Comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations to maintain residents' privacy and confidentiality.
  • Attend all required meetings, in-services, and mandatory training sessions to stay compliant with facility policies and procedures.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
