About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: Sorts and washes linens, garments, drapes, and other articles in an electrically powered washing machine. Transfers washed articles to electrically powered dryer. Folds articles and transports to appropriate storage areas.

Must be 18 years of age

Responsibilities

Inspects articles of clothing or linen to determine amount of soil to plan washing operations accordingly.
Demonstrates the ability to determine the correct number of articles to load into the washing machine.
Checks automatic solution dispensers to ensure solution is being dispensed.
Transfers washed articles to dryers and demonstrates the ability to adjust to the correct temperature setting.
Checks lint trap on dryer after each cycle and clears lint from screen.
Removes dried articles from dryer and place into basket and transfers to a folding table.
Folds clothes according to instructions.
Transfers folded clothes to a barrel to be weighed and records the weight on the appropriate chart.
Transfers folded clothes from barrel to clean linen cart and delivers to the appropriate storage area.
Makes rounds through the facility to gather and transfer barrels of soiled linen to laundry area.
Ensures delivery of personal articles go to the appropriate resident room.
Places personal clothing without name tags into a basket to be identified.
Performs any other duty as assigned.
