The Laundry Aide position is a full-time role with working hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., including every other weekend. The primary responsibility is to pick up and deliver personal laundry to residents in the main building and health care center, as well as sort soiled and contaminated laundry and linens from the health care center. The aide will wash, dry, fold, and iron personal laundry and linens, ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.

  • Pick-up, sort, launder and deliver building linens to designated areas in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and in a timely manner.
  • Identify personal laundry and record billable items.
  • Wash, dry, fold, iron personal laundry and deliver to residents in a timely manner.
  • Place personal soiled laundry in washing machines with neutralizer solution to pre-condition laundry prior to washing.
  • Operate commercial and residential washing machines at capacity to maximize efficiency of equipment and chemicals.
  • Operate flat iron press and/or hand irons in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Maintain inventory of all towels and linens, reporting any shortages or damage to department supervisor immediately.
  • Check and clean all drains to ensure proper drainage from the equipment.
  • Check and clean all dryers to ensure proper airflow and safe and efficient operation of the equipment.
  • Clean/wash dryer and washing machine surfaces daily.
  • Clean/disinfect soiled linen sorting table surfaces and sorting bins daily.
  • Clean/disinfect clean linen folding surfaces daily.
  • Sweep/mop laundry room floors daily.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to perform Janitor and Housekeeper position as directed by departmental supervisor.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all Plymouth Place policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
  • Attend in-service and education programs.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum one-year experience recommended.
  • Familiarity with cleaning detergents and laundering equipment.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, families, and employees.
