About the position
The Laundry Aide is responsible for monitoring laundering machines to clean various articles such as sheets, towels, rags, wiping cloths, and mops. The role involves loading articles into washers, adding the appropriate cleaning agents, and operating the machines. The aide will lift clean, wet articles from the washer, sort and fold dried items, and ensure they are stored correctly. The position requires adherence to safety and quality standards, as well as participation in departmental performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Load articles into washer and add specified amount of detergent or cleaning agent.
- Start machine that automatically washes and rinses articles.
- Lift clean, wet articles from washer and place them into bins for drying.
- Sort dried articles and fold them for storage.
- Sort and count articles to verify quantities on laundry lists.
- Read and understand equipment operation manuals.
- Perform duties in a manner that optimizes patient safety.
- Support and maintain a culture of safety and quality.
- Communicate effectively with staff and maintain a good rapport.
- Participate in performance improvement and quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Preferred high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- Preferred one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
