About The Position

The Launch Technician supports the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team in the successful integration, relocation, and consolidation of manufacturing processes across multiple facilities within an aftermarket automotive manufacturing environment. This role plays a key hands-on part in process setup, equipment installation, validation, and production launch to ensure a seamless transition with minimal disruption to quality, safety, and delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or associate degree in manufacturing, industrial technology, or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within automotive or performance aftermarket industries.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment setup, mechanical assembly, or process troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Basic mechanical, electrical, and/or pneumatic troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to read blueprints, process flow diagrams, and technical instructions.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and measurement instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel between sites as needed for launch and integration projects.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on problem solver with a safety-first mindset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
  • Frequent walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing as required by equipment setup tasks.
  • Ability to work in various plant environments and shifts during launch periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with production systems, torque tools, or PLC-based equipment a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting up, relocating, and commissioning manufacturing equipment and workstations as part of plant integration projects.
  • Support the installation and validation of new or relocated machinery, tools, and fixtures.
  • Help develop and refine standardized work instructions and process documentation.
  • Participate in initial production runs and pilot builds to verify readiness for full production.
  • Work closely with AME engineers to ensure processes meet safety, quality, and efficiency targets prior to production handoff.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical adjustments during equipment setup or relocation.
  • Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives during new line setups and facility transitions.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to identify and resolve launch-related issues.
  • Provide feedback on process improvements, tooling design, and operator ergonomics.
  • Assist in training production operators on new or modified processes and equipment.
  • Identify and communicate improvement opportunities observed during launch activities.
  • Support data collection and documentation for process capability and performance metrics.
  • Participate in problem-solving and root-cause analysis for launch or transition challenges.
