About The Position

Reusable systems with frequent launch cadence are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. A highly operable, reliable, and robust ground system is an integral part of a fully reusable launch system. As a Launch Infrastructure Engineer for our dedicated launch complex at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, you will be responsible for developing and commissioning a new launch pad from scratch. You will be responsible for all phases of the launch site lifecycle including overall architecture, engineering, build strategy, build execution, integration, commissioning, and site operations. As part of a small, well-supported team, you will have access to the resources you need to get the job done right while simultaneously boosting your skills at a pace that can’t be matched in most other roles. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or similar field.
  • This role requires full-time presence at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
  • 4+ years of experience in a related role working engineering, build, and management of critical infrastructure projects in aerospace or similar high-performance application (amusement park, oil & gas, heavy equipment, energy systems, etc.)
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of heavy-civil structural design, engineering and construction, including experience with structural steel, reinforced concrete structures, deep foundations, mass excavations, dewatering, and/or mass earthwork.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management fundamentals including scope definition, schedule & budget ownership, procurement, contracts, construction management, and field execution.
  • Demonstrated experience executing large capital improvement projects while driving economical and expediate solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of engineering construction drawings and construction means & methods.
  • Practical experience actively managing on site construction project schedule, budget and scope.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, receive and incorporate constructive feedback, and work well on a high performing team.
  • Experience with applicable engineering standards including ASCE 07, IBC, AISC 360, ACI 318, NFPA, ASTM, & ASME.
  • Experience developing civil-structural analysis models utilizing ETABS, SAP2000, ANSYS, and/or STAAD
  • Innate ability to prioritize and execute

  • Able and willing to travel for work as required

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in a related role engineering, building, and leading critical infrastructure projects in aerospace or similar high-performance application (amusement parks, oil & gas, heavy equipment, energy systems, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 range requirements
  • Experience working with 45th SW, 30th SW, and/or NASA and other government agencies
  • Master’s degree in engineering, engineering management, construction management, or similar field
  • Professional Engineering (P.E.) license
  • Proficient using AutoCAD, Revit, BlueBeam, and/or NX.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and drive coordination closely across all Launch disciplines and help define & drive infrastructure strategy to enable a high-cadence, fast-turn launch site.
  • Develop and maintain interface requirements and performance requirements for heavy civil structures in coordination with launch mechanical, launch fluids, high power, command & control and vehicle operations.
  • Perform structural engineering analysis and drafting for critical ground infrastructure including launch mount structures, flame trench structures, tank foundations, and other supporting structures as required for ongoing launch site needs.
  • Develop, own, and maintain scope development, build sequence strategy, field construction schedule planning and on-site management.
  • Leverage field experience in the designs of new systems to drive decisions that will assist the construction process as well as future operational needs.
  • Manage, direct, and supervise contractors, sub-contractors, and field craft, including all vendors associated with the respective projects on site.
  • Develop, own and execute assigned project scope, RFPs, project award, construction management, and activation for both heavy civil structural and on site launch facilities.
  • Support Launch Environmental & Explosive Siting permitting requirements and associated coordination with the 45th SW.
  • Drive and maintain project execution quality.
