About The Position
St. Bernadette Catholic School K-8 Latin Teacher Part-Time Catholic Preferred but Not Required St. Bernadette Catholic School, a vibrant K–8 Catholic school in Lancaster, Ohio, is seeking a dynamic and dedicated part-time Latin teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to join our growing classical program. As our school grows, we want to emphasize language as the foundation of literacy, logic, and critical thinking. We want our students to study Greek and Latin roots in grades 4–5 and receive formal Latin instruction in grades 6–8 . We are looking for an educator who inspires students through engaging instruction, fosters critical thinking, and cultivates a classroom rooted in Catholic values. Position Overview The ideal candidate will: Teach Greek and Latin roots (Grades 4–5) and Latin (Grades 6–8) Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback Collaborate with colleagues to support students’ academic and spiritual growth Foster a classroom environment grounded in virtue and respect Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a collaborative learning environment Provide support for diverse learners and adapt instruction as needed Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress Participate in ongoing professional development
Requirements
- Hold an appropriate Ohio teaching license (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one prior to teaching
- Complete the Diocese of Columbus online teaching application
- Satisfactory BCI and FBI background checks
- Completion of or willingness to attend VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training
- Support the mission of Catholic education
