The Remanufacture Machinist Apprentice position is designed for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in machining processes. The role involves working under the guidance of an instructor to learn and apply various machining techniques, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

  • Follows direction of instructor precisely.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunction or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specification.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
  • Maintains tool history form.
  • Completes daily work log.
  • Performs machine maintenance duties as per maintenance binders as well as housekeeping.
  • Inspects machined parts using calipers, micrometers, depth gages, height gages and other precision instruments/gages during production run.
  • 1 year as Remanufacture Machinist Apprentice
  • 1 year Manual Mill and Manual Lathe experience required
  • 1 year Sleeve, machine and profile experience
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Appropriate math abilities
  • Fast learner
  • Detail oriented
