About The Position

The Lateral Legal Recruiting Specialist at Steptoe LLP will oversee the full lifecycle of recruitment for attorney, law clerk, and legal specialist positions across the firm's U.S. offices. This role involves collaborating with Talent Acquisition and the hiring committee to ensure effective candidate sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum four years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ability to problem-solve and concentrate on tasks in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of sensitive data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, and understand urgency.
  • Ability to work effectively with Legal Recruiting and Human Resources team in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with iManage, ViGlobal, Firm Prospects, and/or LinkedIn Recruiter.

Responsibilities

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment efforts including applicant tracking, sourcing, review, and referral to hiring managers/hiring committee.
  • Communicate with outside recruiters, hiring committee, and others within Steptoe.
  • Proactively source and lead outreach for candidates.
  • Assist with tracking and maintaining a repository of relevant job descriptions.
  • Schedule lateral candidate interviews and conduct in-person greetings of candidates prior to interviews.
  • Collect feedback after lateral interviews.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation for all lateral hires, including internal and external announcements and new hire paperwork initiation.
  • Complete reference/conflicts/background checks and prepare/coordinate offer letters.
  • Track submission of new hire documents and relevant hiring information and follow up with new hires as needed.
  • Verify placement fees and process payments as needed.
  • Organize data compilation and report generation as requested.
  • Plan and represent the firm at internal and external recruiting events as needed.
  • Assist Talent Acquisition team with administrative tasks.
  • Assist with EEO1 & Vets Reporting and the final applicant flow reports for Affirmative Action Plan submission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting with entry-level hiring and related initiatives.
