About The Position

CACI is seeking an experienced Latent Print Examiner to provide expert forensic analysis in a state-of-the-art latent print laboratory located in Charlottesville, VA. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in forensic science, chemistry, biology, or related scientific field.
  • Minimum 10 years of directly relatable professional experience in latent print examination and analysis (if qualifying with bachelor's degree).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in the Intelligence Community (IC) environment.
  • Must possess an active Secret Clearance and be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI
  • Must be certification-eligible and able to achieve IAI CLPE certification within 18 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in examination of materials for latent prints using all available means, including specialized lighting sources, conditions, and equipment
  • Proven experience in comparative analysis of latent prints to known prints and latent prints to latent prints, with ability to defend and explain conclusions
  • Proficiency with Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems (AFIS), including NGI (IAFIS) and Universal Latent Workstation (ULW) applications
  • Expertise in latent print photography using specialized equipment (DSLR cameras, RUVIS)
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or similar image processing software for forensic calibration

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Analysis & Examination: Perform scientific analysis and examination of collected samples and materials for latent prints in accordance with Government-specified standard operating procedures and practices.
  • Apply knowledge of scientific selection and sequencing processes in the development of latent prints using available means, including specialized lighting sources, conditions, and equipment.
  • Examine materials using advanced techniques including chemical processing, powder development, and alternate light sources.
  • Conduct comparative analysis of latent prints to known prints and latent prints to latent prints with confidence and ability to defend conclusions.
  • Examine and evaluate digital images to determine whether latent prints have sufficient quality for comparison and/or database submission in accordance with documented criteria.
  • Perform independent verifications of examination results conducted by other examiners.
  • Photograph latent prints using specialized photographic equipment including DSLR cameras and RUVIS (Reflected Ultraviolet Imaging System).
  • Use Adobe Photoshop or similar software for calibration and enhancement of fingerprint images while maintaining forensic integrity.
  • Mark all latent prints in non-destructive manner consistent with forensic best practices.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Compile and annotate comprehensive case file documentation detailing processing techniques and examination results.
  • Complete administrative and technical reviews of analytical reports.
  • Develop inputs and updates to analytical procedures based on casework and research.
  • Review new scientific innovations and developments in latent print examination and report findings through oral and written reports.
  • Laboratory Management & Professional Development: Maintain laboratory in accordance with laboratory procedures and safety protocols.
  • Develop working relationships with colleagues, forensic vendors, and community partners.
  • Stay current with advancements in latent print examination science and technology.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control processes.
