Job Summary: The Laser Scientist plays a critical role in advancing the research and development of ultrafast laser systems. This position supports the creation, testing, and enhancement of seed laser technology, collaborating closely with both engineering and production teams to drive improvements in system performance. The primary emphasis is on experimental development, thorough system characterization, and the evaluation of prototypes for ultrafast laser architectures.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related discipline, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related discipline, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience working with laser systems.
  • Hands-on experience with ultrafast laser systems or other optical systems.
  • Strong understanding of laser alignment, optical diagnostics, and techniques for system characterization.
  • Familiarity with pulse shaping, nonlinear optics, or methods for pulse compression.
  • Proficiency in using data analysis or laboratory software tools such as MATLAB, Python, or LabVIEW.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering and research environment.

Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in the design and development processes of ultrafast seed laser systems.
  • Assist with the assembly and testing of prototype laser systems and their subsystems.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments to assess system performance and pinpoint areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure successful integration of seed lasers into broader laser platforms.
  • Help diagnose and resolve technical issues affecting system performance.
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing system stability, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental findings and development activities.
