About The Position

The Laser Scanning Specialist to support reality capture and 3D data delivery for a variety of projects. This role is responsible for field data collection using laser scanning technologies, point cloud processing, quality control, and production of accurate deliverables that support surveying, design, engineering, and construction workflows. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in laser scanning, is detail-oriented, and is comfortable working in both field and office environments. This work will be performed under general supervision in Longview, TX. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Field walk-down with piping designer to understand area to be scanned as well as critical areas (tie-ins, anticipated conflict areas, etc). Perform field scanning activities including: obtaining appropriate permits for the Operating Area, identifying needs and setting targets, determining the number/location of scanner setup positions to produce a scan of the area as needed to support piping and structural design. Shoot coordinates of targets from temporary benchmarks Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and construction teams. Set temporary benchmarks from plant monuments Register, align, and process point cloud data Registration of the scan data

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • Requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in mechanical/piping drafting and design.
  • Knowledge of the following technologies: Scanner: Z + F Imager 5010C, Leica RTC360; Survey equipment: Nikon XS; Modeling software: Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360 Plus, Aveva Point Cloud Manager (LFM server), Aveva Point Cloud Generate, Aveva Register
  • Knowledge and application of piping materials.
  • Surveying or engineering background
  • Experience in construction, industrial, or infrastructure environments
  • Proven experience with laser scanning / LiDAR technologies
  • Proficiency in laser scanning software (e.g., Leica Cyclone, FARO Scene, Trimble RealWorks, Autodesk ReCap, or similar)
  • Basic understanding of surveying fundamentals
  • Working knowledge of CAD and/or BIM platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Virtual team skills.
  • Combination of field-based data collection and office-based data processing
  • Work will involve outdoor conditions, active construction sites, and industrial facilities
  • Lifting, walking, climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolds will be required during field operations
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
