About The Position

Laser Physicist and Scientist The Opportunity: Leverage advanced and specialized physics research expertise to test and analyze physical phenomena, conduct and shape R&D programs, and support S&T client challenges. Apply specific functional knowledge, including working and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance, and review or guide activities of more junior employees. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Requirements

Experience with optics, lasers, photonics, and diagnostic hardware in a laboratory environment
Experience with a wide range of laser control or locking electronics, optical modulators, and laser system diagnostic tools
Experience using Python
Ability to drive practical science and engineering solutions to customer applications
Ability to implement optical, laser, or atomic physics experiments and perform measurements
Ability to perform trade studies, down-select hardware, and make practical recommendations based on experience and literature
Ability to work effectively and convey complex concepts to varied audiences
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
Bachelor’s degree

Nice To Haves

5+ years of experience with quantum mechanics, atomic physics, and quantum effects in sensing, including through the industry, scientific publications, or conference presentations, in academic or industry environments
Experience leading and managing small to medium-sized engineering, integration, and test projects
Experience with lasers, atoms, spectroscopy, and alkali metals in a laboratory environment
Experience developing technology business plans and roadmaps, building and managing teams to execute projects, and overseeing resources
Experience with RF or RF photonics, software defined radios, low noise amplifiers, ZEMAX, and ray tracing software
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
