  • Performing patient workups and preliminary tests including visual acuity, patient history, lensometry, and other tests in accordance with protocol.
  • Interpreting various diagnostic tests including keratometry, topography, tonometry, pachymetry and visual fields to plan and prepare for laser cases.
  • Ensuring thorough patient education and training as indicated or directed.
  • Facilitating efficient patient flow by monitoring schedules, medical records, and potential schedule conflicts; resolves and communicates with OD/MD as indicated.
  • Triaging patient phone calls; answer questions; resolve concerns as directed to achieve patient satisfaction.
  • Assisting ophthalmologist(s) in providing professional care to patients undergoing refractive laser procedures.
  • Scheduling patients for laser procedures and managing patient flow on surgery days.
  • Ensuring laser calibration standards are met and scheduling timely servicing of lasers when necessary.
  • A Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician certification
  • Previous nursing experience preferred
