About The Position

We are seeking a mechanically inclined operator specializing in the fabrication of precision slides to join our industry-leading team. Company Overview: Knape & Vogt Manufacturing Company has been based in Grand Rapids for over 125 years. We are a global leader specializing in the design, manufacture and distribution of functional hardware, office and healthcare ergonomics and storage-related components for original equipment manufacturers, specialty distributors, hardware chains and major home centers. Open Position: Training: 1st Shift (7:00 AM 3:00 PM, MondayFriday). Post-training: Shift assignment to be discussed (may include 2nd or 3rd shift)

Requirements

• 1 year of manufacturing or Laser Operator experience
• Understanding of mechanical systems, working knowledge of tools, die changeovers and ability to read blueprints
• Basic reading, writing and math skills
• Ability to learn and make transactions in an ERP system like Oracle
• Ability to efficiently work in a high paced environment
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand basic English

Responsibilities

• Responsible for achieving rate and meeting targets
• Conduct changeovers and setups
• Inspect parts and machinery for errors
• Perform all shop functions, packing instructions and labeling requirements
• Respond to machine faults and downtime, and accurately track
• Responsible for training
• Participate in Kaizen events, problem solving teams, and improvement projects
• Operate a forklift
