About The Position

The Laser Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laser cutting equipment to produce high‑quality parts according to blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical documents, and the skill to program, adjust, and maintain laser machinery to meet precise tolerances and production timelines. The Laser Operator ensures all products meet quality standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating laser machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
  • Familiarity with CNC press brake programming and machine setup.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication processes.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand tools and fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to follow safety procedures, work instructions, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Ability to read and understand safety procedures, machine operating instructions, and quality documentation written in English.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with laser operations in a manufacturing or fabrication environment is required.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time while operating equipment.
  • Frequently pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying materials and metal components.
  • Ability to safely operate press brake machinery and related production equipment.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the production area as required to perform job duties.
  • Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and metal materials.
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles is preferred.
  • Experience with quality inspection processes using precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience working in metal fabrication or industrial production environments is preferred.
  • Technical certification or accreditation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Program the laser machine to required specifications and tolerances.
  • Adjust machine controls to produce parts that meet dimensional and quality requirements.
  • Prepare raw materials for production and assist with assembling final products for shipping.
  • Plan sequences of operation to achieve optimal precision and efficiency.
  • Ensure projects are completed according to established timelines.
  • Inspect products to verify compliance with specifications and tolerances.
  • Perform in‑process and final quality checks on finished parts.
  • Identify defects, inconsistencies, or deviations and make necessary adjustments to equipment or processes.
  • Document production results and maintain accurate records as required.
  • Address machine malfunctions promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and assist with troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment in proper working condition.
  • Chart machine performance and conduct routine checks to ensure optimal operation.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, operational guidelines, and work instructions.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
  • Participate in safety training and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Confer with the team lead to obtain accurate information about orders, processes, or production issues.
  • Communicate equipment concerns, quality issues, or process improvements to supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals.
