About The Position

Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Laser Machine Operator -- 1st Shift in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace and fabrication industries. The Laser Operator is responsible for operating sheet metal equipment according to specified daily work orders.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or Equivalent.
• Advanced reading and writing comprehension in English (to read work order instructions, safety and policy manuals).
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, documents and blue prints.
• Advanced measuring skills to read English and Metric systems and a tape measure, caliper, gauges or micrometer.
• Minimum two (2) years proficient work experience as a Laser Operator.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions.
• Experience as a forklift operator.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination.
• Computer Literacy; Microsoft Products, CAD Programming and ERP.

Responsibilities

• Sets up machine with the proper program and material for the specified part.
• Loads material into machine manually or with use of mechanical aids.
• Checks part to ensure accuracy to print.
• Adjusts program and machine settings as necessary to produce product within customer specifications.
• Notifies team leader immediately of any problems when running a part.
• Completes production paperwork, follows shop system data collection procedures and follows inspection procedures on a daily basis.
• Performs scheduled maintenance and inspection on equipment per machine specifications.
• Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
• Notifies management of product discrepancies or equipment malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
• Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a Laser Machine Operator.
• Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
• Adheres to Reliance Steel and Aluminum's Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
