About The Position

The Laser Machine Operator’s primary function is to operate the Laser machine and ensure proper cutting programs.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read/write in English.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Understanding of different types of materials (Mild steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Galvanized steel).
  • Problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to switch focus between projects quickly.
  • Must be able to assist in other areas/departments when there is downtime.
  • Must be able to work 4pm-3am (Monday-Thursday)
  • Must be able to use standard hand tools – Tape measure & thickness gauge.
  • Must be flexible – OT and weekends are required as needed.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years manufacturing experience
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must have good eye/hand coordination.
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand and/or bend for long periods of time (Varied based on daily tasks)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk and/or bend for long periods of time (Varied based on daily tasks)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with sheet metal laser cutters preferred but not required.
  • 1 year of laser operator experience preferred but not required.
  • Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform typical laser cutting operations.
  • Select proper cutting programs and proper fixtures.
  • Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
  • Correct and clear any errors on the laser.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor and/or automation specialist.
  • Use technical drawing/blueprints to ensure laser program cuts as intended.
  • Manually lift raw materials, final products and items packed for shipment.
  • Removing parts from sheets and stacking them on skids.
  • Packing parts as needed either in boxes or with strapping tape and labeling parts appropriately.
  • Other duties as assigned.
