About The Position

The Machine Operator is responsible for reviewing part drawings and setting up and operating laser or saw or press machines. A strong candidate will have good math skills having the ability to convert inches into decimals (for example: 3 ¼” = 3.25”) and having the ability to visualize a 3-dimensional part prior to bending a flat shape, similar to seeing a paper airplane in your head before folding the paper. Having experience operating a press brake is a plus. Overtime during busy months.

  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Proficient basic math skills.
  • Ability to work in a demanding, multi-task environment.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with co-workers and vendors.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Trained in lockout/tagout (LOTO).
  • Demonstrate hands-on shop floor experience in both metal and wood manufacturing.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of machine or press brake operating experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating a press brake.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machines such as brakes, rolls, sheers, lasers, saws, and presses.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, part drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Perform mathematical calculations.
  • Learn the controller on the brake press and adjust bend programs when needed.
  • Lift metal parts that could weigh as much as 50lbs.
  • Make minor repairs and adjustments to machines and notify supervisor when major service is required.
  • Maintain cleanliness in assigned area and all safety standards.
  • Support other departments as necessary.
  • Perform additional assignments in accordance with the Shop Supervisor’s direction.
