The Electrification & Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing in our Future Grids portfolio to create the power distribution grid of the future. We are looking for a CNC Laser Machine Operator to join our 3rd shift team. This position will be based at our Wendell, NC location. Shift Hours: 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM Hourly Rate: $24.79 + $1.50 Shift Differential Please Note: You will train on the 1st shift for a period of time, at the manager's discretion, before moving over to the 3rd shift.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in laser setup and operation; experience with selecting and changing Laser tooling and consumables.
  • Must be able to select appropriate nozzle, assist gas and cutting conditions for various metals.
  • Must be able to read 2D & 3D blueprints, apply basic shop math, digital literacy, and use of basic mechanical/measuring tools.
  • Must be familiar with CAD drawings in various formats; must be able to perform prescribed maintenance as required.
  • Speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language; work standing for the duration of a shift; stoop, bend, squat, crawl, and climb.
  • Must be able to reach, grasp, lift 50lbs, and push/pull/slide material; legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Operating the Trumpf Fiber Laser
  • Setting up, programming, and maintaining the fiber laser; monitoring and adjusting cutting conditions to ensure high-quality edges and products; and monitoring dust collection and Nitrogen Generator as necessary.
  • Loading, setting up, and running offline programs for laser cutting metal parts; creating and editing laser programs at the fiber laser as necessary.
  • Reading engineering drawings for steel and galvanized parts; working with a Laser programmer and engineer to address laser issues in operation and programming.
  • Working with ISO/work standards; completing confirmation documentation in a manufacturing data management system; and accessing and utilizing various documents with the use of computers (e.g., Quality and Safety Documents, Operating Instructions). Working directly with or under the direction of a Group Lead and/or Supervisor.
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment and work area to ensure functioning and safe working conditions.
