About The Position

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as a Physician Assistant (PA) or an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in a respective Specialty area. The APP is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The APP shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service. The APP is expected to comply with scope of practice, other laws, regulations, OHSU policy, and other applicable professional standards of practice. The purpose of this position is to provide, coordinate and support adult patient care in the Division of Laryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Position collaborates with faculty, residents, fellows and speech therapists to deliver appropriate, timely patient care. She/he will provide clinical support through the following daily tasks, including, but not limited to conducting new patient intake visits, division triage support, review of pre- and post-op directions with surgical patients, assist during office procedures, holding independent clinic sessions for new and follow up appointments. Collaborates with Division Chief to continuously improve care coordination, customer service, and administrative processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider role.
  • 3 – 5 years clinical experience as an APP that demonstrates ability to fulfill responsibilities for the specific role preferred.
  • Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Regular and consistent attendance at work.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Current licensure as required by specific Advanced Practice Provider governing board(s). Certified, National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or Certified Nurse Practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Hold independent clinic sessions each day of the week.
  • Assist with daily triage and medical review.
  • Participate in Tumor Board sessions and other OHSU Cancer Institute programming.
  • Participate in daily morning rounds with faculty and residents.
  • Deliver Grand Round presentations bi-annually.
  • Participate in the development of clinical pathways, care plans, guidelines, and protocols in conjunction with faculty and inpatient nursing leadership.
  • Facilitate communication between faculty, residents, and SLPs.
