About The Position

The Large Parts CNC Machine Operator will operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) HELLER machining centers with Siemens 840 D Controllers according to instructions, routings, control plans, production requirements, plans, and diagrams. The operator will study machining instructions, routings, control plans, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional and finish specifications, sequences of operations, complex machine setups, and tooling requirements. Responsibilities include selecting appropriate tools and materials for cubic engine components, setting up and operating basic and specialized machine tools, checking precision measuring instruments, performing fine-tuning of tools/equipment, and maintaining industrial machines according to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) specifications. The operator must comply with safety regulations, maintain clean work areas, and promote a compliance culture in their area of responsibility.

Requirements

  • Must have CNC experience and/or 2 years in a mechanical, maintenance or machining trade school or equivalent Associate's Degree; or 3 years of experience in a CNC heavy-duty machining environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of CNC-controls (preferred SIEMENS 840 D Controllers).
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, and costs.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements.
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others.
  • Basic ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings.
  • Basic organizational, planning, and follow-up skills.
  • Basic oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work any shift and overtime as required.
  • Basic PC knowledge and ability to operate computer terminals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a CNC milling operator.
  • Knowledge of SIEMENS 840 D Control System.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate hoists and power vehicle licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC HELLER machining centers with Siemens 840 D Controllers.
  • Study machining instructions, routings, control plans, job orders, and blueprints.
  • Select appropriate tools and materials for preparation of cubic engine components.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate basic and specialized machine tools.
  • Check precision measuring instruments and adjust according to quality control plans.
  • Perform fine-tuning of tools/equipment and optimize CNC programs.
  • Observe machine operations to detect issues and adjust machines accordingly.
  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or change tooling/setup.
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain industrial machines within TPM specifications.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean work areas.
  • Identify and reduce non-value-added work.
  • Perform special projects and provide support in other production areas.
