About The Position

Golden Spread Electric Cooperative, Inc. generates electricity for the purpose of delivering cost-effective and reliable power to our 16 Member Distribution Cooperatives. As a cooperative, we are not-for-profit and provide services exclusively for our Members. Our team values integrity, respect, cooperation, and service. We are seeking a Large Load Program Lead to negotiate and manage major large-load projects, including data centers, that shape the future of our Member cooperatives. This role serves as the primary deal lead, collaborating with Members, executives, legal, engineering, and external partners on high impact agreements. This position plays a critical role in managing contracts, mitigating risk, and integrating large loads into long-term power planning. Ideal candidates bring strong negotiation skills, utility or energy experience, and a passion for complex infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of the electric cooperative business model and governance structure.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaborating skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to represent GSEC and Members externally on assigned tasks.
  • Proactive and analytical approach to problem-solving, with adaptability to new challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Passion for data center development and/or renewable energy industry.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in utility contract negotiation, transmission planning, or cooperative operations preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in project development, data centers, renewable energy, or related infrastructure preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale load integration (e.g., data centers, industrial facilities).
  • Familiarity with FERC, NERC, and state regulatory frameworks.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy procurement and demand-side management.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate large load contracts including data centers.
  • Primary point of contact, responsible for managing project team expectations regarding timelines, project meetings, agreement redlines, and comprehensive understanding of all agreement details, including implications between company and Members.
  • Manage communication among external project teams, internal and external legal counsel, subject matter experts, and Member project teams, including general managers and chief executives.
  • Responsible for project updates, participate in meetings, and collaborate across engineering, finance, legal, and Member stakeholder functions.
  • Oversee and maintain project records, track key documents, and support timely completion of consultant deliverables.
  • Serve as liaison between G&T Cooperative leadership, Member cooperatives leadership, and data center clients.
  • Provide regular updates on contract status, infrastructure progress, financial and operational risks.
  • Develop and maintain standardized contract templates and service agreements aligned with cooperative principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure equitable cost allocation and compliance with G&T and Member cooperative policies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and compliance expertise on any changes that impact the risks to our Membership.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to forecast load requirements and integrate data center demand into long-term transmission planning.
  • Support documentation for regulatory filings, audits, and cooperative board reviews.
  • Analyze cost impacts of power supply agreements and recommend strategies for rate stability and risk mitigation.
  • Responsible for verifying the accuracy of invoices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
