About The Position

The Large Format Production Operator is responsible for producing high-quality signage and graphic products using large format printers, cutters, laminators, and related finishing equipment. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency with print production equipment, and the ability to manage multiple jobs in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in large format printing, signage production, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes, color management, and finishing techniques.
  • Proficiency in RIP software (e.g., Onyx, Caldera, VersaWorks, or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret production work orders and proofs.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Team-oriented attitude with strong communication skills.

  • Vision abilities required by this job include being able to see clearly at 20 inches or less, distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
  • Mathematical abilities required by this job include reading a ruler, calculating simple costs, and other basic mathematical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate large format printers (e.g., HP Latex, Roland, EFI, or similar) to produce digital prints on various substrates.
  • Prepare and review digital print files for output, ensuring color accuracy, correct sizing, and proper resolution.
  • Set up, load, and monitor materials through printers, laminators, and cutters (e.g., Summa, Graphtec, or Zünd).
  • Perform finishing operations including trimming, mounting, laminating, and application of graphics to substrates.
  • Maintain and perform routine maintenance on production equipment, ensuring machines are in proper working condition.
  • Inspect finished graphics for quality, accuracy, and consistency before delivery or installation.
  • Manage material inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels for upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, and installers to ensure production meets client specifications and deadlines.
  • Follow established safety and quality standards to ensure a clean and organized production environment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate to the supervisor or vendor support as needed.
  • Assist in other signage production or shop duties as assigned.
