About The Position

McWane Ductile New Jersey is an industry leader in manufacturing water distribution and infrastructure products. As our country expanded, so did the need to supply growing cities with clean water and safely remove wastewater. Our location history starts in 1865 when Warren Foundry and Machine Company casted stoves, steam engines, mill gearing and other foundry related items. Currently we specialize in the casting of iron ductile pipes that range from 3" to 24" in diameter. Position 1: Shipping Department Job Summary: As a Large Forklift operator, you must be qualified to operate a forklift, and are responsible for performing a fork truck check and complete appropriate form(s). Position 2: Finishing Department- Cement Line Paint Line Job Summary: The Forklift Operator/Bundle Inspector is responsible for safely operating a forklift while ensuring the accuracy and quality of bundled pipe products prior to storage and shipment. Key responsibilities include completing forklift inspections, verifying bundling ticket information, and conducting visual inspections of bundles to identify cosmetic defects, stencil legibility, and coating completeness. The operator initials bundling tickets to verify inspections, records yard storage locations, and ensures all bundles entering the shipping yard are reviewed and signed off by a quality inspector. This position requires adherence to safety and quality standards, effective communication with supervision, and the ability to work a full production schedule, including all scheduled Saturdays.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy-capacity forklifts (18,000+ lbs.), with specific experience handling pipe or structural steel materials.
  • A valid license with acceptable driving record.
  • Valid forklift operator certification. Which will be re-evaluated once hired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of proper load handling techniques, including stacking heavy, round, or long materials.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to work independently with strong initiative.
  • Strong record of safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Confirm that all information on the bundling ticket is accurate.
  • Visually inspect every assembled bundle for obvious cosmetic. Defects including legible stencils and complete coating, etc.
  • Initial bundling ticket after completion of inspection to assure verification.
  • All pipe entering the shipping yard must be inspected and initialed by quality inspector located at the scale house.
  • Perform fork truck check and complete appropriate form.
  • Record the yard storage location on the bundling ticket and return it to the scale house inspector.
  • Any other Duties assigned by your supervisor.
  • Qualified to operate a forklift
  • All pipes entering the shipping yard must be inspected and signed off by quality inspector located at the scale house.
