About The Position

The position involves providing and coordinating oral interpretation and written translation services for patients, families, customers, and staff of the clinical enterprise. The role is primarily located at Clarkson, but will also work at Village Pointe as needed. The shift is first shift, Monday to Friday, with flexible start times between 8am and 9:30am based on need.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years experience with language translation in both verbal and written communication required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in a health care setting required.
  • Completion of an approved Medical Interpreter Training Course within 60 days of hire or transfer date required (Training provided within the department onboarding process).
  • Fluency in both verbal and written communication of the English and Spanish languages as well as familiarity with target cultures and customs required.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple concurrent tasks required.
  • Proficiency with computer programs for Microsoft Word, Excel, and Spanish Word required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in languages, health care, or related field is preferred.
  • Previous completion of an approved Medical Interpreter training course preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Propio One (telephone service), statistical databases, and video relay interpretation equipment preferred.
