The position involves teaching approved curriculum and demonstrating knowledge of content. The educator is expected to understand child growth and development, particularly the characteristics of students in the assigned age group. The role includes designing clear instruction based on district learning targets and student data, ensuring students have the necessary supplies for various tasks, and evaluating both academic and social-emotional growth of students. The educator will keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate student progress to relevant parties including students, parents, and staff. Additionally, the educator will assist in diagnosing learning disabilities with the help of district specialists, guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals, and create a conducive classroom environment. Responsibilities also include managing classroom procedures, encouraging students to maintain standards of behavior, organizing the physical environment to promote learning, and planning a program of study aligned with common core state standards. The educator will employ various instructional techniques and media to meet the individual needs of students, engage them in learning, design assessments, and demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness.

  • Additional endorsement in Reading, preferred.
  • "Highly Qualified" (Elementary/Middle Grades test, preferred).
