Our team works closely with creative engineers, designers, marketers, etc. to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting, and tailoring our solutions to our users. As the Lanes Data Product Manager, you’ll enable a high quality driving and navigation experience through lane-level detail on the map. You’ll leverage techniques to bring together multiple data sources to build and maintain an up-to-date model of the physical road and lane network. You will work with engineering, operations and client experience teams to design the systems needed to enable lane-aware features. You will be responsible for understanding the market for geospatial lane data, driving advancements in Google's technological capabilities to build this data, and understanding the needs of multiple stakeholders to form a roadmap to drive impact over the short and long term. The Geo team is focused on building the most accurate, comprehensive, and useful maps for our users, through products like Maps, Earth, Street View, Google Maps Platform, and more. Every month, more than a billion people rely on Maps services to explore the world and navigate their daily lives. The Geo team also enables developers to use the power of Google Maps platforms to enhance their apps and websites. As they plot a course for the future of mapping, they are solving complex computer science problems, designing beautiful and intuitive product experiences, and improving our understanding of the real world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in product management or related technical role.
  • 2 years of experience taking technical products from conception to launch.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in a technology or business related field.
  • 6 years of experience in technical product management.
  • Experience with geospatial datasets or large, complex datasets.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, including ability to bring disparate parts of an organization together to a common consensus, including where ownership is ambiguous.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage product roadmaps, and deliver high-quality products on schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely to audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and operations to deliver scalable systems powered by AI and Operations that brings detailed lane and intersection data to use cases across consumer and auto surfaces.
  • Establish quality standards for lanes data products, ensuring the team can continue to meet user needs as the world changes.
  • Explore and integrate new data sources, such as vehicle sensor observations, driving telemetry, user reports, and imagery.
  • Prioritize and build new features that increase the level of detail of our lanes offering.
  • Conduct market research on both consumer and auto offerings to influence the data roadmap.
