About The Position

Under the supervision of an Assistant Manager, the Landscaping Foreman leads the landscaping team in delivering high-quality lawn care and landscape maintenance projects. The Foreman oversees daily operations, assigns tasks, enforces safety protocols, and ensures work is completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role demands strong leadership skills, practical landscaping expertise, and effective team management abilities. Upholds the values of the GPA to promote Safety, Integrity, Respect, Community, Creativity and Opportunity. Promotes a safe work environment by participating in safety initiatives and reporting unsafe conditions and behaviors.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of lawn care, plant maintenance, and pest control.
  • Experience operating and maintaining landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to operate trailered vehicles.
  • 4-6 years Landscaping experience Required.
  • 1-3 years Leadership experience Required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional landscaping certifications are a plus.
  • TWIC - Transportation Worker Identification Credential Required Upon Hire.
  • Valid state driver's license Required Upon Hire.
  • Pesticide Applicator - State Licensure Required Upon Hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a crew of landscapers, assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed efficiently.
  • Train team members in proper landscaping techniques, equipment use, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the team adheres to project timelines and quality standards.
  • Oversee general lawn maintenance, including mowing, edging, trimming, weed control, irrigation systems, drainage and soil conditioning.
  • Ensure proper care and growth of plants, trees, and shrubs.
  • Lead and participate in the planting of flowers, trees, and bushes according to design plans.
  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed.
  • Conduct inspections and address landscaping issues proactively.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping tools, including mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers.
  • Ensure all team members use equipment safely and follow proper procedures.
  • Coordinate with managers to understand requirements and expectations.
  • Track job progress, report any issues, and suggest solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members to ensure clarity in job duties.
  • Keep accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Proactively resolve deficiencies in a timely manner and communicate to supervisor.
  • Maintain proper chemical storage, mixing and application.
  • Conduct chemical application inspections.
