About The Position

This position is for regular full-time gardener/landscaper who is responsible for assisting with the care and maintenance of the plants, shrubs and trees on Moody Gardens grounds. POSITION AUTHORITY: The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below. POSITION GUIDELINES: Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgement and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of the job duties. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assists the Grounds Manager with the care and maintenance of all plants, shrubs, flowers and trees on Moody Gardens grounds. These duties include, but are not limited to, planting, watering, fertilizing, weeding, trimming and pruning. Daily observation of litter in parking lots and other public areas and their removal. Maintain a clean and safe work environment

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be reliable and responsible
• Must be a team player with a willingness to work hard and a commitment to quality
• Must be independent, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Able to retain large amounts of information
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions including high heat and humidity
• Ability to stand, walk for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
• Knowledge of soil, vegetation and climate

Nice To Haves

• Prior knowledge of landscape plants and their care is preferred
• Knowledge of plant pests and diseases and their care is preferred
