About The Position

This position typically provides guidance and support in the design, installation, repair, and maintenance of entrances, parks, and greenspaces within Sangaree Special Tax District (SSTD) and deals courteously and effectively with fellow employees and residents. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Design and maintain landscaped areas within Sangaree Special Tax District, including clean-up and maintenance of all main entrances, and secondary entrances. Assist in the design and installation of landscaped areas, including lawns, shrubs, trees, and flowers. Assist with planting, grooming and maintaining of all ornamental trees, shrubs, flowers, lawns and softscape features. Construct a timeline of landscaping plans, contacts suppliers and prepares cost estimates. Ensure that proper resources are available to complete projects and allocates these resources accordingly. Ensure that appropriate fertilizers, pesticides and other types of chemicals are used safely to control hazardous insects, weeds and unwanted plants. Assist other crew members with maintenance of landscaped areas Assist with planning and scheduling new landscaping and maintenance or grounds keeping activities. Assist in the application of appropriate fertilizers, pesticides and other types of chemicals that are used safely to control hazardous insects, weeds, and unwanted plants. The ability to operate small equipment and hand tools such as trimmers, edgers, blowers, etc. Assist in performing preventative maintenance of equipment and vehicles. Maintain a clean and safe shop area. Responsible for proper use of PPE & safe operation of vehicles and equipment. Required to attend all training and safety briefings. Assist with loading and unloading equipment and supplies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent; Horticulture degree preferred;
Two (2) years of related landscaping and maintenance experience;
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license for South Carolina with safe driving record;
Departmental testing may be administered during interview;
A criminal background check will be completed on selected applicant if a current one (less than 3 years old) is not on file.
This is a safety sensitive position and subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
Knowledge of personal computers, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Skill in mathematics.
Ability to manage inventory and property.
Ability to make budget recommendations.
Ability to use or repair small equipment and machinery.
