About The Position

The Landscape Operations Manager at Metropolitan Forestry Services, Inc. is responsible for overseeing landscape maintenance operations, including sales, project execution, and staff management. This role requires a blend of technical knowledge in horticulture and arboriculture, along with strong leadership and communication skills to ensure client satisfaction and project success. The position involves a minimum of 50 hours of work per week, with a salary plus commission structure based on sales performance.

Requirements

  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission vehicle and pull a trailer
  • Must be able to get and maintain a valid Missouri Class B Commercial Driver's License
  • Degree in Landscape Design, horticulture or related field
  • Certified Horticulturalist and/or Master Gardener
  • Certified Arborist Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Certified Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of participating and supervising employee operation and supervising the construction of retaining walls, installing drainage systems, bed maintenance, and operation of all related equipment
  • Knowledgeable in ornamental tree and shrub pruning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire
  • Strong integrity and leadership qualities to effectively guide a professional team

Responsibilities

  • Sales of landscape, planting, tree care and PHC jobs to meet monthly/annual sales minimums
  • Oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring timelines and budgets are met
  • Interact with clients and provide education and desired landscape plans
  • Maintain close communication with clients to ensure satisfaction and manage expectations
  • Oversee all landscape and nursery staff
  • Training, onboarding and continuing education of Landscape staff
  • All ordering and sourcing of plant and Landscape material for jobs
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality control and adherence to project plans
  • Maintain our safety training program to ensure safety standards are met
  • Manage budgets, control costs, and maximize profitability of landscaping operations
  • Schedule and plan labor, materials, and equipment for upcoming projects
  • Budget for Landscaping projects
  • Pick up and inspection of plant material in time for scheduled jobs
  • Nursery Inventory and Management and ensure all plant material is fit for sale
  • Watering and management of all plant material in nursery
  • Installation and breakdown of Irrigation system in Spring and Winter
  • Tagging and verifying all plant material for each job
  • Loading all plant & landscape material each night/morning for jobs into trucks with Skidsteer
  • Tracking any plant material that was replaced under warranty
  • Maintain Arborist and horticulturalist certifications continuing education annually
  • Any other duties as assigned to help further company goals
