About The Position

The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing all small equipment used in daily landscaping operations. This includes mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, edgers, and other power tools. The ideal candidate is hands-on, dependable, and able to troubleshoot a wide range of mechanical issues to keep equipment in safe, efficient working condition.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
2+ years of experience maintaining and repairing small engines or similar equipment (landscaping, construction, or agricultural industry preferred)
Strong knowledge of 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and schematics
Basic knowledge of engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Excellent communication skills.
Mechanical Aptitude
Attention to detail
Strong problem-solving and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Small Engine Repair Certification or ASE certification a plus
Proficiency in welding techniques and practices a plus

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on small engines and landscaping equipment to include but not limited to oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues.
Assist with seasonal preparation of equipment (spring tune-ups, winterization, etc.).
Support field crews with minor on-site repairs as needed.
Ensure all equipment is cleaned, lubricated, and stored properly after use.
Follow all safety protocols and company maintenance standards.
Work closely with landscaping crews to ensure all machinery is safe and ready for daily use.
Maintain an organized inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.
Order replacement parts and coordinate with vendors as needed.
Keep maintenance logs and service records up to date.
