Under the direction of a Landscape Supervisor, the Crew Leader organizes and oversees daily work for a crew, ensuring safe practices, quality results, and timely completion of tasks. The Crew Leader also serves as the primary field contact for questions and client needs. Location: Alameda, CA

Requirements

  • Leadership, reliability, teamwork, and interpersonal flexibility.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-service approach.
  • Proficiency with backpack sprayers, pole saws/pruners, lawn mowers (36”+), brush chippers, aerators, thatchers, and sprinkler adjustments/repairs.
  • Proficiency in pruning and shaping techniques, fertilizer and pesticide application.
  • Comfortable using technology and software daily.
  • Proof of a valid REAL ID driver license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle report.
  • Due to Coast Guard site requirements, this role requires the satisfactory completion of a federal background check, including criminal history verification, which is conducted by the Coast Guard. Because of this requirement, any offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the background check.
  • Bend and/or kneel up to 10% of the time.
  • Lift, reach, carry, push, pull: up to 50 pounds and up to 50% of the time.
  • Stand, walk up to 90% of the time.
  • Must be able to work outside during all seasons of the year.
  • Conversant or fluent in English language and conversant in Spanish language.
  • Must be proficient in using a smart phone to send/receive calls, text, and emails.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and monitor crew tasks to ensure high-quality work that meets contract standards.
  • Oversee plant care: planting, grading, seeding, fertilizing, mowing, trimming, weeding, spraying, watering, pruning, and debris removal.
  • Identify and report irrigation issues; make adjustments or minor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles; ensure tools are safe, clean, and in working order.
  • Promote safe practices and professional conduct; report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Serve as point of contact for clients/property managers in the field.
  • Train crew members in equipment use, safety, policy, and procedures.
  • Assist supervisors in evaluating crew performance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
