Landscape Horticultural Specialist (seasonal/temporary)

About The Position

We’re looking for a team member who is both knowledgeable and passionate about horticulture and landscape design to support our Landscape Division over the summer. This person will take on small planting projects, help our clients get the best out of their new landscape, and have hands-on experience on jobsites with our crews. We take landscapes to the next level by bringing custom designs to life: planting gorgeous greenery, building beautiful custom paver and stone designs, installing irrigation and lighting, and everything in between. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, loves customer service, enjoys outdoor work, and functions with integrity and professionalism. This is a full-time seasonal (temporary) role, beginning as early as now and ending in August, based on applicant’s availability. Work day is 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. Work week averages 40 hours with opportunities for overtime based on client demand and Project Manager’s discretion. This position pays $18-22/hour, based on experience, with weekly pay . Requirements

  • MUST have a valid driver’s license with no major MVR infractions
  • Basic knowledge of plant diseases and pests and appropriate control measures
  • Ability to work independently or with a team
  • Ability to perform physical work in outdoor conditions, both hot and cold
  • Physical capability to lift greater than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Landscape Project Managers to implement small planting projects
  • Follow planting plans from the Garden Center’s “You Pick, We Plant” service or Landscape Designers’ AutoCAD designs
  • Assist with plant warranties for landscape clients: conduct site visits to determine health of plants installed by FGS, determine if warranty replacement measures are required or advise client on better care practices to improve/rejuvenate plants
  • Complete spring follow-up plantings of perennials for landscape clients
  • Conduct drip irrigation adjustments and add-ons
  • Work with landscape crews to complete design/build installs as time allows
  • Routinely interact with clients and crew members in a professional manner
  • Produce a superior product that enhances our customers’ lifestyle
