This position is located in our Landscape Services division which offers professional tree care and landscaping services at market rates with the profits supporting other Tree Trust programs including green industry skills and employment-readiness training to youth and young adults, and Twin Cities community urban canopy restoration initiatives. This individual will contribute to project scheduling, provide crucial field management, and drive on-site production. Furthermore, this role encompasses the leadership of snow removal operations, ensuring safe and effective service delivery during winter conditions.

Requirements

  • Current driver’s license and a clean driving record as determined by Tree Trust’s insurance carrier
  • Must possess and maintain MN DOT medical certificate within fifteen (15) days of hire
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background and motor vehicle check.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in leading landscape projects
  • Experience with project management
  • Knowledge of horticultural best practices
  • Experience with installation of hardscapes including patios, retaining walls, masonry etc.
  • Working knowledge of landscape construction and carpentry skills.
  • Able to give work direction and work well under pressure in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Must be teachable, trainable and solutions oriented.
  • Able to work well within a team or independently with little work direction.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to competently operate electric and gas-powered tools
  • Must be reliable and possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • experience in heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers and front-end loaders is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively plan and lead project execution by thoroughly reviewing the scope of work, effectively communicating project requirements to the crew, strategically procuring necessary materials, and efficiently scheduling equipment utilization.
  • Establish and maintain organized and safe work environments, rigorously adhering to and enforcing all Tree Trust safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of the team and the integrity of project sites.
  • Provide expert leadership and actively participate in the installation of hardscape elements (e.g., patios, retaining walls, masonry), softscape features (e.g., plantings), grading and excavation activities, carpentry projects, and a broad spectrum of other landscape construction endeavors.
  • Supervise and assist in the construction of accessibility ramps, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing constructive coaching and regular performance feedback to crew members, supporting their professional development and enhancing overall team capabilities.
  • Maintain the professional appearance and functionality of Tree Trust facilities by ensuring a well-organized and clean workspace, including the upkeep of vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Lead and actively participate in snow removal operations, ensuring timely and effective clearing of designated areas to maintain safety and accessibility.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned to support the operational needs and strategic objectives of Tree Trust.
