About The Position

The Landscape Foreman are an important part of every landscape crew. They are an experienced landscaper and perform digging, grading, planting, tree bracing, mulching, laying sod, clean-up, landscape maintenance, read plans, perform layout, follow OSHA rules, and operate equipment at assigned project sites with knowledge and expertise. The Landscape Foreman leads a crew of 3-5 employees and reports to the project Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of landscape experience with at least 1 year of leadership experience.
  • Able to read plans and perform layout accurately.
  • Able to communicate well verbally and in writing.
  • OSHA 10 card holder is a plus but is not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English a plus but not required.
  • Able to stand, kneel, bend, twist, and squat for prolonged periods throughout the day.
  • Able to work in all types of weather, including summer heat and sun.
  • Able to use hand and power tools for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Able to take direction and work effectively with others.
  • Able to work 8+ hours per day 5 days per week (overtime and weekend work may be required).

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example.
  • Lead a crew to install landscaping per plans and specs on residential and commercial projects.
  • Lead a crew to perform the work efficiently and safely.
  • Understand and achieve the schedule and production goals.
  • Read plans and perform layout of plant materials.
  • Perform work thoughtfully so as not to damage the work of other trades (including irrigation).
  • Complete and submit all required daily and weekly paperwork (safety sheets, equipment/vehicle inspection forms, time and production sheets, etc).
  • Train crew members and hold them to company standards.
  • Plan daily with the project superintendent.
  • Receive and verify shipments to the jobsite.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and landscaping tools.
  • Lay sod.
  • Carry plants and other materials.
  • Plant trees, shrubs, ground cover, and annuals.
  • Mulch and Fertilize.
  • Hand water.
  • Dig, trench, grade, and move soil.
  • Follow all company and all OSHA safety rules.
  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, work boots, etc).
  • Arrive to work on-time every day and in the company provided uniform.
  • Have a good attitude, work well with others, and follow direction.
  • Operate construction equipment including skid steers, excavators, tractors, sod cutters, tillers, augers, trenchers, and loaders.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
