About The Position

The Landscape Equipment Operator is a skilled role responsible for the operation of specialized landscape maintenance equipment throughout the golf course and clubhouse grounds. Reporting to the Landscape Supervisor, this position builds upon the duties of the Landscape Laborer and is a key part of ensuring safe, efficient, and visually appealing property maintenance. This is an ideal step for individuals seeking to expand their horticultural and machinery skills while contributing to large-scale landscape care.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-year landscaping or groundskeeping experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate powered landscape equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions clearly.
  • Operates all equipment in accordance with company safety standards and required PPE policies at all times.
  • Attends job-specific equipment and hazard communication training.
  • Maintains awareness of surroundings and ensures others are safe when machinery is in use.
  • Immediately reports malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Operates powered landscaping equipment including skid steers, tractors, walk-behind mowers, zero-turn mowers, blowers, edgers, trimmers, chainsaws and other large equipment.
  • Assists in planting, pruning, mulching, and tree maintenance tasks across the property.
  • Helps transport soil, plants, mulch, and tools to designated work areas using utility vehicles or trailers.
  • Maintains beds and ornamental plantings using edging tools, weeders, and mechanical cutters.
  • Follows safe operation procedures for all equipment and assists with routine maintenance (fueling, greasing, blade checks).
  • Provides cleanup of curbs, parking areas, and sidewalks following landscape work.
  • Supports seasonal flower rotations and landscaping projects under supervisor direction.
