Requirements

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Eagle Point CAD software, and Windows Operating Systems.
  • Previous experience working in AutoCAD is required.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required
  • Advanced mathematical skills including measurements, equations, formulas, percentages, and ratios.
  • Ability to hand sketch & hand draft.
  • Ability to draw site layout plans.
  • Ability to read plans & work in different measurement scales.
  • Ability to use the internet to research sites (i.e. Google Earth, Maps, Etc.)
  • Ability to read site maps.
  • Ability to shoot grades with transit.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and schedule workload within project timetables.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Access.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of landscape design is preferred.
  • Basic plant knowledge preferred (Annuals, perennials, shrubs, and trees typically grown within the Wisconsin region).

Responsibilities

  • The Landscape Designer 1 is responsible for assisting the Landscape Department Sales and Design staff in preparing site base maps for design/build landscape projects and estimating materials and cost of landscape projects.
  • Travels to job site to collect job site information including grade shots, and digital photographs, and identify basic plant material typically grown within the Wisconsin region.
  • Performs and records site measurements of structures, buildings, walkways, walls, landscape features, plantings, property lines, Etc.
  • Creation and layout of base maps utilizing AutoCAD drafting standards.
  • Assists with field layout and plant staking.
  • Enters job materials needed for landscape projects into an accounting system to assist with cost estimation.
  • Completes other tasks such as delivery and pick-up of plans, etc.
  • Compiles measurement information into job packets.
  • May attend client meetings, as needed.
  • Make recommendations to improve processes.
  • Follows company safety policies and procedures at all times.
