About The Position

At Merrifield Garden Center, we pride ourselves on offering complete landscape design and installation services, supported by our full-service garden centers and plant nurseries. As one of the largest design/build firms in the region, we have built a reputation for creating beautiful and lasting outdoor spaces. Our team of landscape designers and architects collaborates closely with plant specialists and installation teams to bring our customers' visions to life. We take the time to understand our clients' dreams for their outdoor spaces and craft custom plans that reflect their desires. Founded in 1971, Merrifield Garden Center is a family-owned and operated business with three locations in Northern Virginia and a dedicated team of over 600 employees. We are currently seeking friendly and talented landscape designers and landscape architects to join our team. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the Greater Washington DC area, specializing in residential and/or commercial landscape design. This includes experience with hardscaping projects such as patios, walkways, driveways, and walls. A strong sales background is essential, with a proven track record of selling between $500,000 and $800,000 or more annually. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, selling, and overseeing a variety of landscaping jobs, including landscape construction projects like patios, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and screened porches. You will meet prospective clients at their homes to discuss landscaping plans and share initial concepts during walkthroughs. Based on these meetings, you will formulate detailed designs and develop proposals. You will also meet clients at the nursery to present plant options and coordinate with team members and suppliers to finalize project details. Project management of the installation process is a key aspect of this role, along with ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the planning, installation, and post-job phases. Maintaining a sales pipeline and following up with potential clients is also crucial to your success in this position.
