About The Position

Borst Landscape & Design is seeking a Landscape Designer/Sales Associate to join the team. This role is responsible for meeting with clients, understanding their requirements, and creating detailed designs and plans using CAD software. You should have excellent knowledge of various plants and their growth requirements, understand aesthetic design principles, and be able to work within budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in residential landscape design
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD; knowledge of Adobe Suite, SketchUp, and Lumion is preferred
  • Must have a valid NJ driver’s license and be comfortable with local travel

Nice To Haves

  • Possesses excellent communication skills and can articulate design concepts clearly
  • Demonstrates prior sales experience; familiarity with client lead management is a plus
  • Has a strong understanding of plants and horticulture to tailor designs to client specifications
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with other design software applications
  • Strong portfolio of built residential or commercial landscape projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop and present conceptual and schematic designs for construction site plans
  • Create compelling graphics through hand drawings and advanced design software for residential landscapes
  • Prepare detailed documents, plans, and renderings to effectively communicate design vision to clients
  • Generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, and marketing initiatives
  • Promote company services and products to potential clients and follow up on leads
  • Execute site plans with a keen understanding of grading, drainage, and intricate planting designs
  • Assess and analyze site conditions, considering factors such as soil quality, slope, drainage, and existing vegetation
  • Collaborate with the construction team to ensure accurate execution of design plans in the field
  • Leverage geospatial technology to enhance landscape planning and analysis
  • Manage client accounts and conduct meetings to ensure satisfaction and alignment with their vision
  • Negotiate contracts and collaborate with clients and vendors effectively
  • Prepare necessary documents for applications and permits for local approvals
  • Contribute to marketing and business development initiatives, and take on additional responsibilities as needed
