We are currently recruiting a Landscape Construction Technician to join our Landscape & Conservation branch. Reporting to the Landscape Project Manager, the Landscape Construction Technician supports the maintenance, improvement, and overall enhancement of outdoor spaces throughout The Arboretum. This is an essential position which may require work during emergencies and/or outside normal work hours. Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: Assist in general construction and installation activities, including signage, benches, fencing, and erosion control, ensuring projects are completed according to specifications, quality standards and timelines. Contribute to the installation and maintenance of site features, including but not limited to bike racks, kiosks, interpretive signage, lighting, pathways, and small structures that enhance guest experience and site functionality. Complete basic culvert repairs and drainage work. Maintain gravel and asphalt roadways by performing grading, material application, and washout repairs, as well as minor asphalt repairs such as pothole filling and patching. Operate and maintain a variety of small and large pieces of equipment to include but not limited to tractor, skid steer, mower, brush hog, dump truck, chainsaw, backhoe and truck-trailer combination. Provide mowing assistance as needed and assist with brush hogging. Assist with outdoor event and exhibit preparation, including set-up and tear-down. Serve as a member of the Emergency Response team. Assist with snow, ice and storm debris; address garden hazards.
