About the position

C.J. McCarthy Landscape is seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Foreman to lead and manage landscape construction projects. This role involves overseeing crews, ensuring project execution meets high-quality standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, passionate about landscape construction, and focused on career growth within a supportive company culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and work alongside landscape construction crews on day-to-day tasks.
  • Develop project schedules and operational plans, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Delegate responsibilities to team members and monitor progress to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Operate skid steers, mini excavators, medium-duty dump trucks, and other landscape and construction equipment.
  • Oversee hardscape projects, including excavation, compaction, and installation of patios, walkways, walls, and outdoor kitchens.
  • Collaborate on full landscape installations for new home construction projects, working with designs for plantings, trees, drainage, and lawn installations.
  • Interact with clients and vendors, providing excellent customer service and maintaining positive relationships.
  • Assist in managing the financial aspects of projects, including budget tracking.
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of experience leading a landscape construction crew preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in landscape/construction required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and mentor crews.
  • Ability to read and follow landscape designs and plans.
  • Experience in hardscaping and softscaping.
  • Proficient in operating equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, and saws.
  • Valid MA driver's license and DOT medical card required.
  • Hoisting license preferred (can be obtained through the company if needed).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations in landscape construction.
